SAN MARCOS, Texas – University of Houston senior Annie Kim posted an even-par 72 during Monday's Final Round at the Jim West Challenge to tie for 21st at 3-under 213 and lead the Cougars in their second straight tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Cougars finished with a team score of 289 to move into a tie for eighth with Oklahoma and Tulsa at 865 on the 6,287-yard, par-72 course at Kissing Tree Golf Club.
Senior Maria Jose Martinez posted the Cougars' low round of the day with a 70. Starting off No. 15, the Alvarado, Mexico, native began with a rough start, bogeying each of her first holes. However, those would be the last bogeys on her scorecard for the rest of the day.
Following a birdie on No. 18 and three straight pars, Martinez drained back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4-5.
After four more pars, she made birdie on the 349-yard, par-4 10th hole and closed her tournament with four straight pars to tie for 59th at 224.
Senior Ariana Saenz tied for 29th at 217, while sophomore Nicole Abelar tied for 41st at 220. Sophomore Delaney Martin tied for 62nd at 225.
Oklahoma State captured the team championship with a score of 825 to finish seven shots ahead of TCU. Miami (Fla.) (848), Florida State (849), Texas Tech (851), Texas A&M (853) and UNLV (860) rounded out the Top Seven.
Individually, Oklahoma State's Caley McGinty earned medalist honors with a score of 15-under 201 to finish two strokes ahead of TCU's Caitlyn Macnab. Oklahoma State's Isabella Fierro stood in third at 205, while Oklahoma's Mikhaela Fortuna, Texas Tech's Gala Dumez and TCU's Sabrina Iqbal tied for foruth at 207.
This was the final fall tournament of the season for the Cougars.
