Women’s Golf Closes Fall Season at Jim West Challenge

Two-day, 54-hole tournament begins Sunday morning at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Houston Women's Golf program closes out its fall season when it competes at the Jim West Challenge, beginning Sunday morning at Kissing Tree Golf Club.
The Cougars will play 36 holes with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Sunday. The Final Round tees off at 8:30 a.m., Monday, with a shotgun start, on the 6,287-yard, par-72 course.
This will be the final fall tournament of the season for the Cougars.
Houston enters their fall finale following an eighth-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational against an elite field. Senior Annie Kim fired a 69 in the Second Round and posted a career-best fourth-place finish and score of 217.
TUNE IN
Fans can watch the Cougars in action on ESPN+ each day with coverage on hole No. 9, No. 13, No. 14 and No. 18. Brant Freeman (play-by-play) and Kaitlyn Sirman (analyst) will call the action
Coverage begins at 11 a.m., Sunday, and runs through the end of the Second Round. Monday's complete Final Round will be shown, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

THE LINEUP
Under first-year Head Coach Lydia Gumm's leadership, the Cougars will be represented by senior Annie Kim, sophomore Delaney Martin, senior Ariana Saenz, senior Maria Jose Martinez and sophomore Nicole Abelar.
With her performance at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, Kim moved into second on the team with a 73.89 scoring average and joined Martinez, Martin and Saenz in a tie for second with two rounds of par or lower.
Abelar will compete in her second tournament as a Cougar after transferring this summer from Coastal Carolina.
The Cougars' regular No. 1 and 2021 First-Team All-American Karen Fredgaard will not play in the Jim West Challenge as she competes in Stage II of Q-School.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 15-team field, which consists of Florida State, Kent State, Miami (Fla.), Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UNLV.

PAIRINGS
For Sunday's First Round, the Cougars will play in groups with student-athletes from Texas State and Miami (Fla.)
Martin will begin the day in the first group off No. 10 with Kim (second group of No. 10), Martinez (first group off No. 11), Saenz (second group off No. 11) and Abelar (No. 12).
