Marcus Jones Named All-American by Phil Steele Magazine

HOUSTON – Houston Football junior Marcus Jones was selected as a First-Team All-American as a punt return specialist by the Phil Steele Magazine.

As a junior in 2020, Jones led the FBS in punt return yards (337) and punt return average (19.8), while finishing the season with one punt return touchdown. It marks the second straight season a Cougar has been honored by Phil Steele Magazine as an All-American, joining punter Dane Roy in 2019.

At cornerback, Jones recorded 24 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and one interception in his first season at Houston.

The honor marked Jones' fourth All-America selection this year. He was named a Third-Team All-American at cornerback by Pro Football Focus (PFF) and a First-Team All-American as a return specialist by the FWAA and CBS/247Sports.

The Enterprise, Ala., native was also selected to the American Athletic Conference First Team as a return specialist.
