Conroe native, district MVP headed to Houston
HOUSTON – The Houston Football program added one of the nation's top running backs to its 2021 signing class on Thursday as Alton McCaskill signed his national letter of intent with the Cougars.
McCaskill, a native of Conroe, Texas, is rated as the nation's No. 21 running back in the class of 2021 by 247Sports. A two-time all-district selection, McCaskill helped Oak Ridge High School to its first playoff win in 18 years during the 2020 season.
As a senior, McCaskill rushed for 1,141 yards and 11 touchdowns to earn district MVP honors. He rushed for nearly 900 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2019. McCaskill also competes for Oak Ridge's track and field program where he has competed in the 100 meters and 200 meters, posting a time of 10.91 in the 100-meter dash.
He chose Houston over Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Penn State, UCLA and USC among others.
