What I Miss Most - Kelli Montgomery

A reflection from senior infielder Kelli Montgomery
"I miss being around the whole team because they always kept me laughing. Our team is always cracking jokes and goofing off. It was just always so fun to be around everyone. This year was the funniest group of people to be around.
"I miss competing with everyone on the field. This year, the team had so much chemistry on the field, it was crazy. Being able to go out there every single day and compete with the team this past year was amazing. From a team chemistry standpoint, it really felt like we had some magic this season – it was honestly crazy.
"I miss softball. I miss having our crazy schedule. Our practices. Our workouts. Traveling. Games. Everything this sport gave us, I miss.
"I miss the team's pregame dancing in the locker room before every game. We were always staying loose hitting the TikTok dances… especially to 'Toes' by Dababy.
"I miss our pregame Nitro. This year, it became a thing we started getting before our home games. By the end of the year (or what would end up being the end of the year), I would say more than half the team was hooked on pregame Nitros. We really thought it helped us play better when we drank them."
The Cougars ended the 2020 campaign 16-7, which included the program's first 11-game winning streak since 2011. Houston also finished the year as one of the most explosive teams in the country, ranking fifth with 38 home runs.
