WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Cougars are coming off of a successfully weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational where the men's team took home the team titles and the women's team finished fourth. Houston's American Athletic Conference weekly accolade count increased to eight after Taylor Scaife and Miles Marhofer picked up American Field Athlete of the week honors for their performances this past week.
The Houston women entered the week ranked 22nd in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Ranking Index. Scaife is set to compete at Clemson, entering the meet with the 14th-best throw in the NCAA this season in the weight throw and three consecutive wins in the events this season. Naomi Taylor continues to be a spark for the Cougar hurdlers, with the 12th-fastest time among collegians this season in the 60-meter hurdles. Nora Monie and Samiyah Samuels also ranked among the top-15 nationally in their respective events and are scheduled to compete this weekend.
On the men's side, Marhofer continues to improve after shattering the program record in the weight throw for the fourth time this season at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. Houston remains one of the nation's best in the sprints as Travis Collins enters the weekend with the 14th-fastest time among collegians this season in the 60-meters. Dayo Akindele, Jermaine Holt and Antonio Ruiz all sit among the best in the nation in their events and enter the weekend with top-20 marks.
