Fredgaard to Compete at Augusta National Women’s Amateur

Marks second straight season Cougar will tee off in prestigious amateur event
HOUSTON – University of Houston freshman Karen Fredgaard will compete at the Augusta National Women's Amateur in April after recently accepting an invitation for the elite amateur event.
This marks the second straight season in which a Cougar will compete at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. In 2019, All-American and two-time American Athletic Conference Player of the Year Leonie Harm played at the inaugural event, tying for 57th.
Fredgaard will be one of 72 amateur players at the tournament. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on April 1-2
The entire field will play Augusta National for an official practice round April 3 with the Final Round taking place at Augusta National Golf Club on April 4 with the competitors who made the cut.

ABOUT KAREN FREDGAARD
Fredgaard is in the middle of her first collegiate season as a freshman. She leads the Cougars with a 70.33 scoring average and nine rounds of par or better.
During the fall semester, the Asserbo, Denmark, native earned four Top-25 finishes with three Top-10 showings, including a second-place finish at the White Sands Invitational in late October.
She posted a career-low 68 four times in the fall and fired a score of 11-under 205 at the White Sands Invitational for the team's low tournament of the season to date.
Fredgaard joined the Cougars following an impressive international career. She was selected to competed for the Danish National Girls Team in 2016-17 and was elevated to the National Team for 2018-19.
She placed 11th at the 2018 European Amateur Championship and finished fifth at the 2018 Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, which was won by Harm.

NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (11 a.m. – 2 p.m. CDT) of live Final-Round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Golf Channel will deliver on-site highlights, live reports and news coverage throughout the event. Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday, April 3 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
Tickets to the Augusta National Women's Amateur are sold out following an online ticket application process. No tickets will be available at the gates.

Fredgaard and her Houston teammates begin their spring season when they tee off at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship. The three-day tournament tees off Sunday morning at English Turn Country Club in Augusta, Ga.
Following the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship, Houston plays host to the ICON Invitational on Feb. 24-25 on the Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club.
