Monie sits among the best in the nation in the Shot Put
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field team closed out the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational with five top-three finishes on second day of meet action.

FIELD EVENTS
Nora Monie had a stellar day in the Shot Put ring, posting a second-place finish in the event. Monie set a personal-best in the event with a throw of 16.45m (53-11.75) on her first attempt of the day. The mark is the second-best in program history and currently the 15th-best in the nation.
On the men's side, Brendon Rivera turn in a second-place finish in the High Jump with a mark of 6-08.75 (2.05m).
RUNNING EVENTS
In the women's 200-meter, Taylor Bennett finished in fifth-place with a time of 24.06 to lead the Cougars in the event. The men's posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the event as Terence Ware led the squad with a fifth-place finish at 21.46, followed by Christian Hamberlin in sixth-place with a personal-best time of 21.64.
The men's distance medley squad made up of Christian Gilmore, Matthias Petterway, Zion Smith and Devin Vallejo clocked a second-place finish of 10:10.25.
In the final event of the day Houston posted a pair of top-two finishes in the 4x400-meter Relay. Payge Side, Aliyah Taylor, Sierra Leonard and Birexus Hawkins combined for a time of 3:44.92 for second place on the women's side.
On the men's side, Houston secured a top finish in the 4x400-meter relay as Antonio Ruiz, Jermaine Holt, Frederick Lewis and Tyrell Valentine combined for a time of 3:12.64.
