Cougars become eighth collegiate women’s basketball team to join team
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program is excited to announce that it is the newest member of the Jordan Brand family.
The Cougars become just the eighth NCAA women's basketball program to join the Jumpman roster; joining Florida, Georgetown, Marquette, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma and UCLA. The squad is the second Houston Athletics program to partner with the Jordan Brand, joining the Houston Men's Basketball who made the transition prior to the 2018-19 season.
Houston uniforms will feature the iconic Jumpman logo at the start of the 2021-22 season. Head Coach Ronald Hughey made the announcement to the team following practice recently.
"When you work your tail off to get to a certain point, everybody wants to be acknowledged for that," said Head Coach Ronald Hughey. "There are people in this program that came before us who put a lot of work in to get us to where we are today. Today is a monumental day, because we have the chance to get our recognition for the things we've done to get to this point. We'd like to thank President Renu Khator, the senior administration, especially Chris Pezman and DeJuena Chizer, and everyone involved in making this a reality for this program."
