Houston Earns AVCA Voting Community Award

Cougars receive honor for involvement in 2020 election
HOUSTON – After being vocal advocates in the community to use one's voice in the 2020 election, the University of Houston Volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Community Voting Award.

The Cougars were one of 91 NCAA Women's Division I teams that received the honor, which was given to the programs who had 100 percent eligible student-athletes and staff vote in the 2020 election. This is a new award from the AVCA, created to encourage eligible student-athletes and coaches to participate in the democratic process by exercising their civic duty.

Houston was the only team from The American Athletic Conference to earn the accolade.
