Houston Falls Short Against UCF

Cougar offense stalls in loss to Knights
The Cougars fell to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in The American Athletic Conference, as the Knights moved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Junior quarterback Clayton Tune completed 21-of-41 passes for 263 yards and one touchdown. Senior running back Kyle Porter rushed for a team-high 52 yards on 13 attempts and scored his third rushing touchdown of the season. Sophomore wide receiver Nathaniel Dell pulled down six catches for 88 yards and one touchdown.
Senior linebacker Grant Stuard led UH's defense with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery for the first touchdown of his career and Houston's first defensive score of the season. Stuard, D'Anthony Jones, Atlias Bell, David Anenih, Payton Turner and Jamykal Neal combined for six total sacks, tying a season-high for Houston.
The Cougars fell behind early before Turner forced a fumble late in the first quarter that resulted in a 34-yard touchdown run by Stuard. Minutes later, UCF answered with its first touchdown of the game, taking a 10-7 lead at the end of the frame.
After a touchdown and two field goals in the second quarter, UCF widened its lead to 23-7 heading into the locker room at halftime.
The Houston offense mustered two scoring drives in the second half, as Porter rushed for a 1-yard touchdown for the only score of the third quarter between the two teams. UCF started the final frame with back-to-back touchdowns, and Houston responded with a score of its own, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome, as the Knights took the win.

The Cougars head to Cincinnati to face the seventh-ranked Bearcats at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 7 inside Nippert Stadium. That game can be seen on ESPN or ESPN2 and can be heard on KPRC 950 AM.
Houston returns to the friendly confines of TDECU stadium to face USF on Nov. 14 in its annual Homecoming game. Kickoff time for that game will be announced soon.
