
Houston Women’s Golf Tees Off at Schooner Fall Classic

Cougars begin First Round on Friday morning at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Houston Women's Golf returns to action this weekend when it opens play at the Schooner Fall Classic, starting Friday morning at Belmar Golf Club.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 9:30 a.m., Friday, and continues with 18 holes each day on the 6,048-yard, par-70 course. Saturday's Second Round starts at 9 a.m., with the Final Round beginning at 8:30 a.m., Sunday.
TUNE IN
Fans can watch the Schooner Fall Classic First Round from noon to 3 p.m., Friday, on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX College Sports Central.

THE FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Alabama, Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Illinois, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State and host Oklahoma.
THE LINEUP
Houston will be represented by sophomores Maria Jose Martinez, Hannah Screen and Annie Kim, freshman Karen Fredgaard and senior Brooke McDougald.
Senior Amanda Elich will make her season debut while competing as an individual.
Martinez posted a 4-under 212 at the season-opening Mason Rudolph Championship last weekend in Tennessee to earn a career-best second-place finish. Screen tied for fifth with a score of 214, while Fredgaard tied for eight at 215.
Fredgaard posted a 71 in the First Round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, setting a program record for low round by a student-athlete in their Houston debut. The Asserbo, Denmark, native also set a program record with her eighth-place finish in her inaugural appearance in the Scarlet & White.
FIRST-ROUND PAIRINGS
For Friday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Texas and Clemson.
McDougald begins the day off No. 1 at 11:30 a.m., with Martinez (11:40 a.m.), Kim (11:50 a.m.), Fredgaard (noon) and Screen (12:10 a.m.) following.

LAST TIME OUT
Trailing the leaders by seven strokes entering the Final Round, the Cougars posted the tournament's low round during the final 18 holes to win the Mason Rudolph Championship by two strokes on Sept. 20-22 at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
It was the first time the Cougars won their season-opening tournament and the eighth team championship under Chadwell.
