
Houston Opens at Mason Rudolph Championship

Cougars tee off Friday morning at Vanderbilt Legends Club
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Houston Women's Golf program opens its 2019-20 season when it tees off Friday morning at the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament consists of 18 holes each day through Sunday on the 6,430-yard, par-72 North Course.
THE FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Auburn, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Clemson, Florida Atlantic, Louisville, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Northwestern, UCF and host Vanderbilt.

THE LINEUP
Head Coach and three-time American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Gerrod Chadwell enters his seventh season at the helm of the Cougars.
The Cougars will be represented by sophomore Hannah Screen, freshman Karen Fredgaard, sophomore Annie Kim, sophomore Maria Jose Martinez and senior Brooke McDougald. Junior Ariana Saenz will compete as an individual.
A year ago, Screen and Martinez were All-American Athletic Conference selections during their first collegiate seasons, helping lead the Cougars to their third conference championship in the last four years.
Screen ranked second among the Cougars with a 72.97 scoring average, 12 rounds of par or better and five Top-10 finishes. Martinez posted a 74.85 average with seven rounds of par or better and a fifth-place showing at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational.
Fredgaard, Kim, McDougald and Saenz each will be making their Houston debuts this weekend. Kim (Vanderbilt), McDougald (TCU) and Saenz (Texas A&M) joined the Cougars as transfer while Fredgaard is in her first collegiate season after an award-winning career on the international level.
