Cougar alum advances to finals in 400-meter hurdles
HOUSTON – University of Houston Track & Field alum Amere Lattin highlighted a day full of action at the 2019 Pan American games in Lima, Peru by advancing to the finals of the 400-meter hurdles.

Four Cougars were in action on Tuesday afternoon as Tristan Evelyn and Brianne Bethel competed in the 100-meter dash on the women's side, Mario Burke on the men's side and Amere Lattin hit the track in the 400-meter hurdles.

The ladies were in action first as Bethel finished sixth in her heat of the 100-meter at 11.76 and Evelyn clocked a time of 11.89 for fifth-place in her heat. Bethel will now prepare for the 4x100-meter relay as she is slated to suit up for the Bahamas in the event. Burke closed out the 100-meter with a fourth-place finish in the third heat at 10.26 and will now prepare for the 200-meter dash.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Cougar alum Amere Lattin clinched a spot in the finals of the event with a first-place finish in his heat and third-place finish overall at 49.75. Lattin will appear in the finals of the event that are slated for Thursday afternoon.
