
King Named to Earl Campbell Award Watch List

Quarterback picks up fifth preseason honor entering 2019
HOUSTON -- University of Houston Football senior quarterback D'Eriq King has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler announced Tuesday afternoon.
King is one of 42 players on the list, as the preseason accolade is his fifth watch list entering the season. The native of Manvel, Texas, was tabbed to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List on July 15, Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List on July 16, the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2019 Player of Year Preseason Watch List on July 26 and the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List on July 31.
In addition, King was ranked No. 40 in ESPN's Top 50 College Players announced on Monday.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. In addition, nominees must have meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Up to 16 semifinalists will be announced November with the watch list narrowing to up to five finalists in December. The winner will be announced at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet for Jan. 15, 2020, in Tyler, Texas.

HOUSTON ATHLETICS KICKOFF EVENT
Cougar Pride members at the All-American Club Level ($1,000-$2,499) and up are invited to attend the Houston Athletics Kickoff Event from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Cougar Club. Complimentary food provided by BB's Café as well as a cash bar will be available at the event. Check-in for the event takes place in the Dan and Beth Bellow Club Entrance.
