Harm earns academic award for third straight season, Elich honored for second consecutive year
HOUSTON – For their impressive work in the classroom in 2018-19, University of Houston Women's Golfers Leonie Harm and Amanda Elich were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Monday.
To be eligible for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team, student-athletes must post a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5.
Monday's awards were nothing new for the Cougar duo. Harm was named an All-American Scholar for the third consecutive season, while Elich received the award for the second straight year.
Harm and Elich played key roles in leading the Cougars to the American Athletic Conference Championships title for the second straight year and NCAA Regional play for the fifth consecutive season in 2018-19.

In 2018-19, Elich recorded a team-best 3.61 cumulative GPA while studying business.
On the course, the West Linn, Ore., native competed in nine tournaments with four rounds of par or better, including a career-low 69 in the First Round at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas, on Oct. 14, 2018.
Elich tied for third at the spring season-opening Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans on Feb. 17-19. Opening that tournament with a 71, she closed the event out with a 70 in the Final Round for her career-best finish.

Harm posted a 3.60 GPA while majoring in biology/biochemistry. In competition, she earned All-America honors by the Women's Golf Coaches Association and Golfweek
The Gerlingen, Germany, native posted a team-best 72.20 scoring average to set a school single-season record and owns the Top-Three single-season performances in that category in school history.
She became the first Cougar in program history to win multiple tournaments in a single season and finished as the Cougars' leader with four tournament crowns during her career.
Harm was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season and became the second student-athlete in program history to compete in four NCAA Regionals during her career.
She competed at the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in April, joining 72 amateur athletes at that prestigious event.
