Cougar sprinter earns All-Academic Accolades
HOUSTON – Houston Track & Field sprinter and hurdler Naomi Taylor was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team that was announced on Monday afternoon.
Â
Taylor just closed out her sophomore season on the women's team, making appearances at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships. The Cougar sprinter and hurdler helped Houston qualify a 4x100-meter relay squad to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time since the 2015 season. Taylor turned in a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished in 15th-place at the Outdoor Championships in the 100-meter hurdles.
Â
The rising junior took home American Athletic Conference titles in the 60-meter hurdles and the 100-meter hurdles, all while maintaining a 3.60 grade point average as she works toward her degree in Psychology.
Â
902 women earned USTFCCA All-Academic honors during the 2018-19 seasons. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finished the regular-season ranked in the top-96 (Individual) or Top-48(Relay) in an event, or participated in an NCAA Championships (Including preliminary rounds). The full list can be found HERE.
