Weigel Called Up by Atlanta Braves

2015 draftee called up to bigs on Friday morning
HOUSTON -- Former University of Houston Baseball standout pitcher Patrick Weigel was called up by the Atlanta Braves, the organization announced on Friday morning.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Wes Parsons and RHP Patrick Weigel from Triple-A Gwinnett after optioning RHP Kyle Wright and RHP Touki Toussaint to @GoStripers following last night's game.

Weigel, who was drafted by the Braves in Seventh Round (Pick 210) in the 2015 MLB Draft, got the call to the bigs late Thursday night.
"(I) got the call and immediately had a bunch of energy, couldn't sleep." Weigel told Fox Sports during an interview inside of the Braves' clubhouse.

Speaking with media, Braves Manager Brian Snitker said Weigel has been throwing really well and plans to use him out of the bullpen with Atlanta.

Weigel joins the Braves from the Gwinnett Stripers of the Class AAA International League, where he was 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA. Through 10 starts and one appearance out of the bullpen, he recorded 36 strikeouts across 44.2 innings.
Weigel was promoted to the Gwinnett from the Mississippi Braves on May 13. With Mississippi, he held a 1.72 ERA with 16 strikeouts across 15.2 innings with the Class AA affiliate.
The native of Ventura, Calif., made a team-high 23 appearances and finished with a 4-1 record with two saves and a 3.38 ERA with Houston in 2015.
Weigel played for both Pacific and Oxnard College prior to joining the Cougars.
