Quarterback was semifinalist for Maxwell Award 2018
HOUSTON -- Entering the 2019 season, University of Houston Football senior quarterback D'Eriq King has been named to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club announced Monday.

• King returns for his senior season after setting The American Athletic Conference single-season record with 50 touchdowns responsible for (36 pass, 14 rush), despite missing the last 2.5 games with injury in 2018
• The Manvel, Texas, native led the nation with 27.5 points responsible for per game, four points ahead of the No. 2 spot shared by Heisman finalists Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins
• Became one of only three quarterbacks in Football Bowl Subdivision history with 35 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns in a single season
• Had a rushing touchdown in all 11 games played
• 2018 The American All-Conference Second Team
• 2018 Earl Campbell Award Finalist
• 2018 Maxwell Award Semifinalist
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SUMMER KICKOFF & MEDIA DAYS
Head Coach Dana Holgorsen and four student-athletes will take part in American Athletic Conference Football Summer Kickoff and Media Days, beginning Monday evening at Gurney's Newport Resort & Spa.
Leading the Cougars as head coach for the first time in 2019, Holgorsen will be joined by King, senior offensive lineman Josh Jones, senior defensive lineman Aymiel Fleming and senior punter Dane Roy.
