
Kondis Named to Academic All-District First Team

Cougar swimmer honored for athletic and academic achievement
HOUSTON – Accolades continue to roll in for the University of Houston Swimming & Diving program as Houston junior Peyton Kondis was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large team.

Kondis closed out the 2018-19 season with three podium finishes at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, helping the Cougars to their third consecutive conference title. The junior became the first swimmer to qualify for consecutive NCAA Championships since Maija Harris during the 1988-89 seasons, concluding the meet with a program record in the 200 Breaststroke.
Kondis holds program records in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Medley Relay and 400 Medley Relay, to go along with the third-best time in program history in the 200 Individual Medley
The two-time team captain competes in the classroom as well, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in every semester of her collegiate career as she works toward her degree in Kinesiology.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their academic and athletic performances. First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Ballot voted on by Sports Information officials from across the nation.
