The Cougars take on conference rival USF on Sunday
HOUSTON – The Houston Women's Tennis team topped the roadrunners to start their weekend matchups, 5-2.
In doubles, Sophie Gerits and Ndindi Ndunda defeated Jasmin Starr and Kylee Kato, 6-2. At Court 1, Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Elena Tairyan snatched their match to clinch the doubles point, 7-5.Â
Taking the momentum in singles, freshman Stephanie Belovukovic rolled through Charleen Tiwari, 6-0, 6-3. Junior Phonexay Chitdara stepped out of the court next, winning the third point for Houston at Court 5, 6-3, 6-1. To clinch the match, Gerits played a had fought match, defeating Kylee Kato 6-4, 6-2, at Court 3. Shortly after, Tairyan dismantled Mariah Plauth 6-1, 6-3.Â
