Igbokwe Claims Track Athlete OTW

HOUSTON – After a successful weekend at the Mt. Sac relays, senior Obi Igbokwe earned American Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.

Igbokwe turned in a fourth-place finish in the Men's 400-meter dash invitational, clocking a season-best time of 45.91. The time marks the fastest in The American this season and the 13^th fastest time nationally.

The senior also helped the Cougars to a second-place finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay and the fifth-fastest time in program history with a time of 3:05.05. The marks sits atop The American in the conference rankings and 12^thnationally.

For Houston, the award is the teams seventh of the outdoor slate, and the third for Igbokwe in his career. The Cougars have racked up 18 total weekly awards this season.

Houston returns to action for a triple-meet weekend with the Penn Relays across April 25-27, the Drake Relays across April 26-27 and the Alumni Muster on the 27^thin College Station.
