
Triolo Named The American Player of the Week

Triolo garners Houston’s second Player honor of 2019; Villarreal named to Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- University of Houston junior third baseman Jared Triolo was named The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
In the 10th week of the regular season, Triolo turned in .583/.706/.667 slash. The Austin native went 7-for-12 with one double, four walks, one hit by pitch, four RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases across the Cougars' 4-1, Tuesday win over No. 7 Texas A&M and Easter series win against Cincinnati.
Triolo went 1-for-3 against the Aggies and turned in two three-hit games (Thursday and Saturday) against the Bearcats. His three-hit performances tied his season high. Triolo stole home in the series finale.

In addition to Triolo's accolade, junior closer Fred Villarreal was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll. Villarreal posted a 0.00 ERA with two saves across three appearances out of the bullpen.
Villarreal recorded one save with a scoreless ninth in Houston's win over the nationally ranked Aggies. He added another save, his conference-leading ninth of the season, with two scoreless innings in Friday's win over the Bearcats. Villarreal added two scoreless innings in Saturday's series finale with Cincinnati.

The Cougars return to action with a Tuesday, neutral-site matchup with Sam Houston State for the Don Sanders Cup finale. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. from Constellation Field, home of the 2018 Atlantic League Champion Sugar Land Skeeters, in Sugar Land, Texas.

Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
