ARGYLE, Texas – University of Houston senior Tatiana Pineda fired a score of 3-under 141 to finish the first two round of The Bruzzy in a tie for ninth on Monday evening.
Competing on the 6,421-yard, par-72 course at Lantana Golf Club, Pineda opened the tournament with an even-par 72. Standing at 2-over through her first 16 holes, Pineda birdied her final two holes of the First Round to return to even par.
Starting on No. 10 in the Second Round, the Bogota, Colombia, native birdied her first hole took advantage of the par-5 holes, birdieing each on the way to a career-best 69.
As at team, the 28th-ranked Cougars finished the first day in a tie for seventh with No. 20 Miami (Fla.) at 569. No. 41 Mississippi held the team lead at 558 with No. 43 Texas Tech one shot back. No. 35 Baylor was in third at 563 with BYU (570), Kansas State (574), Maryland (576), No. 19 TCU (578) and No. 2 Texas (580) rounding out the Top-10 leaders.
Freshman and 77th-ranked Hannah Screen was tied for 14th at 2-under 142. The Berkhamsted, U.K., native opened play with a 69 in the First Round, thanks to five birdies , including three in a 5-hole stretch to cap her back nine.
Senior Maddy Rayner was tied for 28th at 144 after posting consecutive rounds of 72, while junior Amanda Elich was tied for 35th at 145. Freshman Maria Jose Martinez was tied for 42nd at 146.
No. 25 Sofia Garcia (Texas Tech) stood atop the individual leaderboard at 9-under 135 to finish the first day one stroke ahead of Rose Huang (BYU) and No. 59 Gurleen Kaur (Baylor) No. 21 Hailee Cooper (Texas) and Reid Isaac (Kansas State) were tied for fourth at 137.

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
Tuesday's Final Round begins with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Miami (Fla.) and BYU.
Pineda will start the day in the first group off No. 4 with Screen (No. 5), Rayner (No. 6), Martinez (first group off No. 7) and Elich (second group off No. 7) following.
