SAN JOSE del Cabo, Mexico – University of Houston Men's Golf sophomore Alexander Frances finished the Cabo Collegiate at Querencia in a tie for 15th with a score of 1-under 212 to lead the Cougars on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Zach Tracy finished 32nd with a score of 218, while senior Matt Williams tied for 36th at 221. Junior Alex Isakson tied for 63rd at 235, while junior George Gardner tied for 69th at 244. Competing as an individual, freshman Braxton Watkins tied for 63rd at 235.
In a field featuring 11 of the nation's Top-50 programs, the Cougars finished ninth with a score of 880. No. 1 Oklahoma State captured the team championship with a score of 32-under 820 to finish eight strokes ahead of ninth-ranked Arizona State.
No. 36 Baylor (843), No. 3 Vanderbilt (858). No. 50 Arizona (862), No. 12 LSU (863) No. 48 Mississippi (866) and No. 27 Florida State (868) rounded out the Top-Eight leaders.
Individually, No 52 Austin Eckroat (Oklahoma State) earned medalist honors with a score of 14-under 199 after posting three straight rounds in the 60s. Teammate Matthew Wolff finished second at 201 while Arizona State's Chun An Yu finished third at 202.
UP NEXT
Following the Cabo Collegiate at Querencia, the Cougars will host the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on March 11-12.
From there, the team will compete in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. on March 17-19.
