The Cougars continue to roll on spring break, 4-0
HOUSTON – The Houston Women's Tennis team closed their spring break with a sweep, beating the Aztecs, 4-0. The Cougars move to a 10-4 record this season.
In doubles, Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Elena Tairyan paired up at Flight 1 to steal the first set of the day in a tight super-tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6). To clinch for the doubles point, Sophie Gerits and Ndindi Ndunda defeating Mia Smith and Agustina Rimoldi on Court 2, 6-4.
Keeping the energy up in singles, the Cougars started off on top quick. Freshman Jovana Vukovic was the first to step off the court with a win at Flight 4, beating Alicia Melosch, 6-2, 6-4. Next, sophomore Ndunda fought a long match at Court 1, eventually taking the match against Shakhnoza Khamatova, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
To clinch the match for the Cougars, freshman Stephanie Belovukovic topped Agustina Rimoldi, 7-5, 6-2.
