Houston Adds Four to Football Strength & Performance

Dana Holgorsen and Darl Bauer expanded UH Football Strength & Performance Department
HOUSTON – Houston Football Head Coach Dana Holgorsen and Director of Strength and Performance Darl Bauer expanded the Houston Football Strength & Performance department Wednesday with the addition of four new staff members.
Assistant Director of Strength & Performance Kevin McCadam, Coordinator of Strength & Performance Marquis Johnson and Assistant Strength & Performance Coaches Brett Holgorsen and Nate Majnaric have all joined the staff under Bauer's direction.

Kevin McCadam | Assistant Director of Strength & Performance
• Kevin McCadam was named an Assistant Director of Strength & Performance at Houston in February of 2019.
• McCadam spent six seasons at West Virginia as the assistant director of strength and conditioning/speed development
• McCadam arrived Morgantown in 2010 after a stint at Virginia Tech as a graduate assistant, following a successful five-year NFL career.
• While at Virginia Tech from 2008-10, McCadam worked with the Hokie Football team, as well as the men's and women's basketball teams.
• From 2002-05, he was a safety for the Atlanta Falcons and finished his career in 2006 with the Carolina Panthers.
• In 2007, McCadam coached high school football at Dublin Coffman High in Dublin, Ohio.
• McCadam was a two-year member of the Virginia Tech football team from 2000-01, playing in 20 games and finishing his college career with 111 tackles. He earned his bachelor's degree in history from Virginia Tech, in 2001, and his master's degree in education in 2009, also from Virginia Tech.

Marquis Johnson | Coordinator of Strength & Performance
• Marquis Johnson was named Coordinator of Strength & Performance in February of 2019 after two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers as a strength & conditioning assistant. He joined the 49ers after serving as an assistant strength coach at the University of Tennessee in 2016.
• Johnson joined Tennessee's athletic department after stops as the head strength coach at Memorial (Port Arthur, Texas) High School (2014-16), West Brook (Beaumont, Texas) High School (2012-14) and Galena Park (Texas) High School (2010-12). In addition to his strength & conditioning duties, Johnson worked with defensive backs, defensive linemen and outside linebackers in football as well as the school's powerlifting programs.
• Before his time in the high school ranks, Johnson spent three years (2008-10) at Eastern Michigan University where he began as a graduate assistant and later moved to the school's interim head strength & conditioning coach. In addition to football at EMU, Johnson worked with school's men's and women's basketball teams, golf, tennis and soccer teams. While at Eastern Michigan, he earned his master's degree in administration.
• A native of Houston, Johnson played collegiately at Prairie View A&M University (2004-08) where he began as a tight end before moving to defensive end. He received his bachelor's degree in human performance from Prairie View A&M.

Brett Holgorsen | Assistant Strength & Performance Coach
• Brett Holgorsen was named an Assistant Strength & Performance coach at Houston in February of 2019 after two seasons as assistant head football coach and quarterbacks coach at Paetow High School in Katy, Texas.
• Prior to Paetow, Holgorsen spent three seasons as quarterbacks coach at Katy High School where he helped lead a Tigers team that won the 2015 Texas State 6A DII title and MaxPreps National Champions. Katy claimed a district title all three seasons during his time with the program, compiling an overall record of 41-4 during the run.
• He spent the 2012-13 seasons as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Taylor High School in Katy where his pass heavy offense set eight program records while leading its district in passing yards, attempts and completions.
• Prior to Taylor, he spent two seasons at Seven Lakes High School in Katy as offensive coordinator following a four-year run as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Fort Bend Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas.
• He made his coaching debut in the Houston area after two seasons as linebackers coach for Berthoud High School in Berthoud, Colo., and one season as defensive coordinator at Memorial High School in Victoria, Texas.
• Holgorsen served as head coach at Iowa Wesleyan College for the 2002 season after serving one season as secondary coach and head golf coach at Mississippi Valley State University.
• He received his coaching start as the secondary coach at South Dakota in 1991 where he coached for two seasons before two seasons at W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas. Following two seasons at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, he spent the 1997 season as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at South Dakota Tech before three seasons as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Belhaven College.

Nate Majnaric | Assistant Strength & Performance Coach
• Nate Majnaric was named an Assistant Strength & Performance coach at Houston in February of 2019 after four seasons as assistant strength & conditioning coach at Georgia State.
• He spent the 2014-15 year at Mississippi State as a graduate assistant, working with the men's and women's basketball teams. His strength and conditioning experience includes three years on the WVU staff under Mike Joseph.
• An Ohio native, Majnaric graduated from West Virginia, where he was a member of the Mountaineers' football team. He was an All-Big 12 Academic honoree and earned his bachelor's degree in coaching education with an emphasis on exercise psychology.
• He joined the West Virginia program as a sophomore as a walk-on, earning a scholarship as a senior.
