Houston Announces 2020 Schedule

Schedule features 31 home games
HOUSTON – Coming off its first NCAA Regional final appearance since 2011, the University of Houston Softball program and head coach Kristin Vesely unveiled its 2020 schedule on Thursday.
The 54-game slate features 13 contests with opponents who competed in the 2019 NCAA Regionals, two matchups against opponents who qualified for a Super Regional and one contest against perennial national powerhouse Oklahoma, who went all the way to the WCWS Championship Series.
"Our schedule this season will allow us to put ourselves in a position to continue to grow our program and prepare for another run in the NCAA Tournament," Vesely said. "We want to challenge ourselves and go up against some of the best teams in the country, and I think we did just that with the schedule we've put together for this season.
"We've made significant strides over the past few years, and I'm excited to see this team take our program to the next level."
Houston's 2020 campaign is also highlighted with three home tournaments that will take place at Cougar Softball Stadium, where the Cougars welcome Texas Tech, Oregon State, and six-time WCWS participant Oregon, among others.
SCHEDULE NOTES
1 – This is first time since 2013-14 that Houston opens back-to-back seasons hosting consecutive tournaments
2 – Houston will play Baylor and Texas in a midweek doubleheader
3 – The Cougars will hit the road three times during American Athletic Conference play
4 – Head Coach Kristin Vesely enters her fourth season at the helm, having increased the program's win total in each of her first three years
5 – Houston will compete in five weekend tournaments during the regular season
13 – The Cougars are scheduled to play 13 games versus eight different 2019 NCAA Regional teams
31 – Houston will play 31 contests inside Cougar Softball Stadium
