Monty Porter Promoted to Deputy Athletics Director/COO

HOUSTON – As a part of a strategic effort to strengthen organizational structure, University of Houston Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman announced the promotion of Monty Porter to Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Operating Officer on Thursday.
"Since his arrival to the University of Houston in May 2018, Monty has been a valuable resource to our administration," Pezman said. "He has continued to oversee growth in our finances and helped our team become more efficient and effective from an operational standpoint. This promotion will create a tiered structure among our executive leadership team and will allow us to continue to implement our vision going forward."
Porter will continue to oversee Houston's finances, human resources and departmental administration involving internal operations. He will also continue to serve as a sport administrator, work as the department's liaison to the university's general counsel and assist in the execution of various strategic initiatives.
Porter joined the UH Athletics Department as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance and Administration in May 2018 from Western Michigan.
At Western Michigan, Porter started as an assistant athletics director for business operations in 1995 before being promoted to associate athletics director in 1999 and later senior associate athletics director in 2014.
