Senior goalkeeper recorded two shutouts on the weekend
HOUSTON - University of Houston senior Samantha Cude was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
QUOTES FROM COACH
"Sammy played two of the best games of her career this weekend. She made some timely saves and was very aggressive coming off of her line. This took a lot of pressure off of the back line, and we were able to earn two cleans sheets." said Head Coach Diego Bocanegra.
Over the weekend, Cude earned two shutouts while collecting eight saves in 187 minutes played. The Calif. native recorded her third shutout and helped the Cougars improve to 5-11-0 on the season.
On Thursday against East Carolina, Cude notched six saves and a shutout during her 97 minutes between the posts for Houston.
On Sunday against Cincinnati, Cude spent all 90 minutes in-goal for the Cougars, posted two saves and tallied another shutout to secure the home sweep.
HONOR ROLL
Cassidy Formanek was named to The American's Honor Roll. The defender notched a goal against Cincinnati on Sunday and played all 187 minutes on the weekend.
Jazmin Grant was also named to The American's Honor Roll. The junior assisted two goals against Cincinnati and recorded five shots on the weekend.

Houston will hit the road to take on No. 9 Memphis on Oct. 24. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
