Houston Rolls Through Incarnate Word

The Cougars top the Cardinals, 6-1
HOUSTON – The Houston Women's Tennis team improve to a 3-0 record at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility, defeating Incarnate Word, 6-1.
The Cougars had a hot start in doubles play, rolling through the Cardinals at Courts 2 and 3. Sophie Gerits and Phonexay Chitdara continued their undefeated streak, beating Jelena Dordan and Alejandra Landaluce, 6-1.
Elena Tairyan and Jovana Vukovic followed, clinching the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Alejandra Tamayo and Taylor Parkinson after Ndindi Ndunda and Mimi Kendall-Woseley dropped their match at Flight 1, 3-6.
The Cougars carried their energy into singles, starting at Court 6, where Stephanie Belovukovic claimed the first win over Taylor Parkinson, 6-0, 6-1. The freshman from Australia dropped only two games in the past two matches this week.
Tairyan followed, topping Tamayo in a quick matchup, 6-1, 6-1. Ndunda then defeated Dordan in a 6-3, 6-0 face-off on Court 1, clinching for the Cougars for the second time this week.
Quickly after, Chitdara was able to find the fifth win of the day, defeating Landaluce 6-1, 6-1. Her Belgian teammate and doubles partner, Gerits, battled Kareh on Court 3, eventually defeating her 6-0, 6-4. The match against the Cardinals ended after Kendall-Woseley dropped her match at Court 2 against Brandelyn Fulgenzi, 5-7, 3-6.
