Houston Men Move to No. 4 in USTFCCCA Rankings

Houston owns five top-10 individual rankings
HOUSTON – The Houston Men's Track & Field program climbed higher in the national rankings Tuesday as the Cougars moved up two spots to No. 4 in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
Houston's move was bolstered by five individual rankings in the nation's top 10, including two No. 1 marks.

The quartet of Obi Igbokwe, Amere Lattin, Jermaine Holt and Kahmari Montgomery clocked the nation's fastest 4x400-meter relay at Friday's Red Raider Invitational as the time of 3:03.31 placed Houston at No. 4 on the USTFCCCA's all-time performance list.
Montgomery claimed the program's second No. 1 ranking in the 400-meter dash and was joined by Igbokwe at No. 3 in the event.
In the 60-meter dash, senior Mario Burke equaled the team's ranking at No. 4 after clocking an altitude-converted 6.58 at Friday's Red Raider Invitational. Junior Nathaniel Mechler ranked No. 8 in the heptathlon while senior Amere Lattin moved up to No. 11 in the 60-meter hurdles after clocking an altitude-converted 7.73 in the event Friday.
On the women's side, Houston climbed 32 spots to No. 53, claiming the highest ranking among all women's programs in The American Athletic Conference.
Senior Taylor Bennett led all Houston women with a No. 7 ranking in 200-meter dash while also claiming the No. 26 ranking in the 60-meter dash. Junior Samiyah Samuels (No. 17 – long jump) and senior Taylor Scaife (No. 18 – weight throw) round out Houston's top-20 rankings on the women's side.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
Houston hosts the Houston Invitational inside the Athletics/Alumni Center this Friday and Saturday. Action on Friday is slated to begin at 10 a.m., with the women's weight throw while Saturday action is scheduled to begin at 11:50 a.m., with the heptathlon.
