Houston Opens Season at Maui Jim Invitational

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program opens its 2018-19 season when it tees off Friday morning at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Club.
Teams will play 18 holes each day through Sunday on the 7,081-yard, par-70 course.

THE LINEUP
For the 2018-19 season opener, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke announced that junior and All-American Athletic Conference performer Zach Tracy, junior Logan Young, junior George Gardner, senior Matt Williams and sophomore Alexander Frances will represent Houston.
Tracy returns this season as the Cougars' leading player after posting a 72.87 average with 15 rounds of par or better. The Houston native tied for 13th at the American Athletic Conference Championships on the way to All-Conference honors.
Williams is the Cougars' lone three-year letterman and finished with a 74.18 average and 14 rounds of par or better a year ago, while Gardner recorded a 73.09 average.
Frances begins his second collegiate season after competing in nine events a year ago. The Stege, Denmark, native posted a team-best 64 in the Second Round of the Colin Montgomerie Invitational on Feb. 26 and finished second at that tournament.
Young will make his debut with the Cougars after transferring from St. Edward's. There, the Normangee, Texas, native earned PING All-America First Team honors after finishing as the NCAA Division III Championships runner-up in a three-hole playoff.
TEAM FIELDThe Cougars will compete against Arizona State, Auburn, Augusta, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Kent State, LSU, Minnesota, NC State, Oregon, Oregon State and host Georgia State. PAIRINGS
For the First and Second Rounds, the Cougars will compete in groups with individual student-athletes and from Oregon State.
Houston will tee off No. 1 at 10:40 a.m., in Friday's First Round with its Second Round beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, off No. 10.
Sunday's Final Round pairings will be determined based on team standings.
Following the Maui Jim Invitational, Houston returns to action when it competes at the Maridoe Intercollegiate. That three-day event begins Oct. 6 at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.
From there, the Cougars tee off at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-23 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
