Cougars record five goals in shutout of PVAMU

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Houston got on the board early, recording two goals in the first 12 minutes of action
- Olivia Lee recorded the first goal of her career, after capitalizing on a free kick by Mia Brascia.
- Offensive standout Desiree Bowen posted her first goal of the season inside the 11th frame after scrambling to a pass from junior Kaitlyn Wild.
- Junior transfer Amy Nguyen closed out the first half and increased the Cougar lead to three after firing a ball from the left side of the box into the goal. The assist was credited to Kaitlyn Wild.
- Wild would find herself in scoring position 14 minutes into the second frame, firing a shot from just outside the left corner of the box into the lower left corner of the goal.
- Freshmen Miranda Urbizu and Natalie Anderson would come together for the fifth and final goal of the match.
- The Cougars posted a season-high 31 shots, the most shots in a game since Head Coach Diego Bocanegra took over the program.
- Houston posted a season-high 11 SOG, the most since the 11 they posted last season against New Mexico State.
- Houston posted a season-high 14 points, one shy of the 15 they accumulated against McNeese State in 2010.
- The four assists is tied for the most single-game assist since the four the Cougars racked up against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2016.
- The Cougars earned 11 more corner kicks than PVAMU
- Rachel Estopare and Samantha Cude split time in the box for Houston. Estopare picked up four saves and her first shutout of the season.

The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.
