HOUSTON â€" Junior long jumper Jared Kerr has been named American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for his weekend performance, the league office announced Tuesday.
Kerr posted the fifth-best long jump in program history in front of the home fans at the Tom Tellez Invitational on Friday. On his third attempt, Kerr traveled a wind-legal 26-0.75 (7.94m) to finish second overall and first among collegiate competitors in the event.
