Houston Earns 6-3 Win over UCF

HOUSTON -- Behind dominant relief pitching and early run support, Houston Baseball was able to wrap up its final home American Athletic Conference series with a 6-3 win over UCF at Schroeder Park.
With the victory, the Cougars improved to 29-19 on the year and 14-7 in American play, while UCF fell to 32-16 and 11-10 in league action.
HOUSTON HITS
- Jared Triolo walked in the first inning to extend his on-base streak to 14 games.
- Houston improved to 22-6 at home this season.
- Ryan Randel tossed a Houston career-long 5.2 innings in relief, surpassing his previous bullpen performance of 3.0 innings vs. USF on April 8.
- Tyler Bielamowicz recorded a career-high three hits.
- Connor Hollis played in his 200th career game.

Houston out hit UCF, 8-7, led by sophomore Tyler Bielamowicz's three-hit day. He added a run and RBI.
Cooper Coldiron came up big with a two-out, two-RBI hit and scored a run, while Nick Slaughter added a hit and RBI.
Lael Lockhart Jr. scored twice and had a double, while Connor Hollis had a hit and scored his team-leading 41st run.

Houston sophomore starter Brayson Hurdsman made his fourth start of 2018 and tossed 3.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
He handed the ball over to junior Ryan Randel in the fourth inning and he went on to throw a career-long 5.2 shutout innings in relief, surrendering just four hits with a walk and two strikeouts for the win, moving to 4-4 on the year.
Senior Joey Pulido appeared out of the bullpen for the final out to earn his third save of 2018.
KEY INNINGS
1st | UCF scored a run in the top of the first after the lead off hitter reached via and error and later scored on a steal home.
Houston responded in strong fashion with four runs in the latter half of the frame on two hits and an error, highlighted by two, two-out RBI hits from Tyler Bielamowicz and Cooper Coldiron to make it 4-1.
2nd | UCF scored two runs on two sacrifice fly balls following a single and a sun-aided double to trim the Cougars' lead to 4-3 in the second.
3rd | Houston extended its lead with a pair of runs in the third on an RBI-single by Nick Slaughter and a double steal by Slaughter and Cooper Coldiron to make it 6-3 Cougars.

Houston will play its final home game this Tuesday when it welcomes Stephen F. Austin to campus. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
