Padgett Named American Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. â€" After leading Houston Baseball to four wins and a series sweep of No. 24 Wichita State last week, Grayson Padgett has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
Padgett hit .412 (7-for-17) over the five-game week, tallying three extra base hits, a double, triple and home run. He drove in four RBI and scored four runs, while slugging .765.
The highlight of Padgett's week came when the China, Texas native belted the walk off, game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh to cap a 6-5 win over the Shockers in Game 2 to clinch the series.
The walk off, game-winner was the second for Padgett his season.
- Hit the walk off game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh in Game 1 on Sunday vs. WSU
- Had four RBI over the week
- Had two multi-hit games this week
- Dove in three RBI in a 9-4 win over SHSU on Tuesday
The Player of the Week honor was the second for Houston this season as Jared Triolo earned the honor back on March 26.
ON DECK
Houston will hit the road for four games next week when it travels to Austin to take on Texas at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Longhorn Network. The Cougars will then embark on a three-game series at East Carolina over the weekend, set to begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, continue at 3 p.m. CT Saturday and wrap at 10:30 a.m. CT Sunday.
