HOUSTON HITS
- Houston returns to American Athletic Conference play this weekend with a 20-12 overall record and a league-leading 6-3 mark in conference action.
- The Cougars are coming off a 1-0 shutout win over Rice at home on Tuesday where pitchers Lael Lockhart Jr., Fred Villarreal and Carter Henry held the Owls to just two hits with fanning seven.
- Houston has played 14, 1-run games this season (8-6).
- As a team, the Cougars are hitting .251 with 12 home runs, 51 doubles and 129 RBI.
- Leading the way is sophomore Jared Triolo with a .370 clip and a team-best 47 hits. He is currently riding a 31-game on base streak, while recording a hit in 17 straight games.
- Joe Davis is hitting .317 with a team-high 23 RBI, followed by Lael Lockhart Jr. with a .302 average and 21 RBI.
- Senior Connor Hollis has scored 29 runs, a team-high.
- Houston pitching owns a 3.02 ERA after recording its fifth shutout of the year.
- The staff has fanned 287 hitters and walked 101, while holding opponents to a .219 clip.
