Houston Closes Regular Season at Bruzzy Challenge

CARROLLTON, Texas -- The University of Houston Women's Golf program closes out its regular season when it competes at the Bruzzy Challenge at Maridoe Golf Club on Monday morning.
The Cougars, who stand at No. 26 in the latest Golfstat rankings, will play 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday on the 6,335-yard, par-72 course at Maridoe Golf Club. The final 18 holes tee off Tuesday morning.

STARTING LINEUP
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Gerrod Chadwell, the Cougars will be represented by junior Leonie Harm, senior Megan Thothong, sophomore Amanda Elich, senior Allie Andersen and senior Courtney Tibiletti. Junior Maddy Rayner will compete as an individual.
This season, Harm leads the Cougars with a 72.84 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better, including three in the 60s. Thothong stands second on the squad with a 73.68 average and eight rounds of par or better.
FIRST-DAY PAIRINGS
For Monday's play, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Texas A&M and BYU.
Thothong will begin play at 8:30 a.m., Monday, in the first group off No. 1 with Harm (second group off No. 1), Elich (No. 2), Tibiletti (No. 3) and Andersen (second group off No. 4) following.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 16-team field featuring five of the nation's Top-50 programs, including No. 34 Iowa State, No. 38 Texas A&M, No. 42 BYU, No 49 San Diego State and No. 50 Texas Tech as well as Boston College, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, SMU, TCU, Texas State, UT Arlington, UTSA and host North Texas
LAST TIME OUT
In their last tournament, the Cougars enjoyed a second-place finish with a score of 904 at the LSU Tiger Classic on March 23-25.
Six Cougars finished among the Top-25 leaders with Harm placing second with a score of 220 to lead the team. Thothong tied for third at 221 after opening with a 70, while Elich tied for 10th with a score of 226.
UP NEXT
Following the Bruzzy Challenge, the Cougars enter the postseason beginning with the American Athletic Conference Championships on the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Golf & Spa Resort in Palm Coast, Fla., on April 15-17.
