Davis Tabbed Bragan Player of the Week

HOUSTON -- Houston Baseball junior Joe Davis led the Cougars last week with a .529 average en route to being named the Bobby Bragan Award Collegiate Slugger Player of the Week, announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Davis went 9-for-17 (.529) with three runs and four RBI in Houston's four games last week, helping the Cougars to a 3-1 week, including a weekend sweep of New Mexico and Columbia.
The Austin, Texas native slugged .647 with two doubles and had three multi-hit games, including back-to-back three-hit games vs. McNeese and New Mexico. He wrapped a successful week with a three-RBI day on two hits with two runs, which was highlighted by a three-run double to cap a weekend sweep of Columbia on Sunday.
Davis enters this week leading the Cougars offensively with a .362 average on 25 hits, two home runs and 12 RBI through 16 games.
ABOUT BOBBY BRAGAN AWARD
The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award will honor the top college player in the state of Texas based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity at the conclusion of the season.
The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation in 2017, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in Texas and has named Joe Davis a member of its initial watch list. Last year, Houston's Jake Scheiner was named a Semifinalist in the inaugural year of the award.

Houston is 11-8 entering the week and will host five home games at Schroeder Park, beginning with a midweek game vs. Lamar at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and a 6:30 p.m. matchup Wednesday vs. Prairie View before opening American Athletic Conference play this weekend vs. Memphis at Schroeder Park.
