HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team travels to the Sunshine State to face North Florida and South Florida. First serve against North Florida is set for 11 a.m. CST on Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla. The following day, the Cougars play against South Florida at 11 a.m. CST in Tampa, Fla. The Cougars hold a 3-1 road record heading into these matches.
Houston swept the doubleheader against Louisiana and UT Rio Grande Valley on Monday. The Cougars didn't lose a set against Louisiana in the matches that counted towards the clinch. Sveva Mazzari remained undefeated on the season in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Floriane Picaut. She also dominated in her doubles match with Tsveta Dimitrova, in which they won 6-2 against Elena Sava and Abby Johnson.
Shortly after the Louisiana match, Houston swept UTRGV in what was one of the most impressive matches of the season. The Cougars limited the Vaqueros to only being able to win two games or less in every match that counted toward the sweep. Tsveta Dimitrova and Ana Glumac played with each other in doubles for the first time this season and cruised to a 6-1 win over Dominique Ibarra and Marine Darzyan. Houston improved to 14-1 this spring season heading into the matches in Florida.
ABOUT THE OSPREYS
North Florida is riding a four-match winning streak heading into the match against the Cougars and hold a 10-4 overall record. Their most recent win was a 4-0 sweep against Savannah State.
