FULL LIST -- NCBWA PRESEASON ALL-AMERICANS
DALLAS -- Reigning American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-American Trey Cumbie of Houston was tabbed one of the nation's best starting pitchers as he was named an NCBWA Preseason First Team All-American, the organization announced Monday.
Cumbie is no stranger to national preseason lists as he was honored as a Second Team honoree by Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) recognizes players from NCAA Division I, naming student-athletes across three All-America teams. Cumbie is one of only six starting pitchers in the nation honored as a First Team honoree.
Houston was the only American Athletic Conference Team represented across the three All-America teams with Cumbie pacing the pitchers as the Preseason Conference Pitcher of the Year honor as well.
Cumbie, the staff ace, is fresh off a sophomore campaign that was highlighted by him being named the American Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-American by NCBWA.
The Lufkin, Texas native, led the American Athletic Conference with a 2.04 ERA and a 10-2 record in 15 starts. The southpaw fanned 82 in 101.1 innings and had four complete games to his name in 2017.
