Presented annually to the nation's top punter, the Ray Guy Award candidate list will be narrowed down to ten semifinalists on Nov. 15 before three finalists for the award are selected on Nov. 20.
Roy ranks second in The American Athletic Conference with 15 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Despite placing 15 of his 39 punts inside the 20, the Australian has not recorded a single touchback this year.
His high-hanging punts have helped Houston rank 20th nationally in net punting with an average of 40.59 yards, only three yards off the nation's best net punting average of 43.74 yards by Cincinnati.
The nation's third-oldest FBS player this season, Roy has four punts over 50 yards on the season while forcing 20 fair catches out of returners and only allowing 11 returns for a total of 64 yards.
