Briles, Clements Receive New Contracts

New contracts run through 2021 season
HOUSTON – Houston associate head coach and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and run game coordinator and offensive line coach Randy Clements agreed to new three-year deals with the Houston Football program Wednesday.
The two agreements are pending University of Houston System Board of Regents approval.

The two oversaw an offense that finished the regular season ranked No. 4 in scoring offense at 46.4 points per game while ranking No. 7 in total offense at 528.6 yards per game.
Houston tied Oklahoma for the nation's lead in 2018 with 10 games of at least 40 points as the two schools were also the only two in the nation to rank in the top 20 in both rushing and passing offense. Houston ended the regular season No. 16 in passing offense at 300.9 yards per game while coming in at No. 20 in rushing offense with 227.7 yards per game.
Houston quarterback D'Eriq King took only 10 games to break The American Athletic Conference's single-season record for touchdowns responsible for, finishing with 50 before a season-ending injury in week 11.
Despite missing Houston's final game, King ended the regular season leading the nation in points responsible for (302) and points responsible for per game (27.5) while ranking No. 4 in passing touchdowns with 36, No. 6 in pass efficiency with a rating of 167.0, No. 8 in total offense with 332.4 yards per game, No. 13 in rushing touchdowns with 14 and No. 17 in passing yards per game at 271.1.
The Houston offense had three different players rank in The American's top-10 in touchdown receptions as Keith Corbin was second with 10, Marquez Stevenson was third with nine and Romello Brooker was eighth with six. Stevenson and Corbin ranked fifth and eighth in the league in receiving yards, totaling 947 and 669, respectively.
