Over the last four years, Houston has improved its GSR by 16 percent with Wednesday's record.
The latest NCAA GSR report accounts for student-athletes who entered school in a four-year period from 2008-11. The GSR was developed 14 years ago as an improved measurement tool for tracking student-athletes' academic progress leading toward graduation.
The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible
and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere.
This week's honor is just the latest sign of academic progress in the Houston Department of Athletics as last spring, UH student-athletes recorded the highest spring GPA (2.97).
