Cougars pick up third win in The American
HOUSTON – The University of Houston soccer team posted its fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Tulsa, Sunday afternoon at the Carl Lewis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
The Cougars will take the next week off before heading back out on the road with a pair of road games in the Sunshine State. Houston will face USF on Oct. 18 and UCF on Oct. 21

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Houston got out to an aggressive start, posting eight first half shots.
- Both teams went back and forth in the opening frame, heading into the break scoreless.
- The Cougars turned up the intensity in the second frame, posting eight more shots.
- Inside the 58th minute, Kaitlyn Wild would scamper down the far side of the field, before cutting to the middle and firing a shot past a Tulsa defender and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
- With time dwindling down Houston would draw a foul inside the box for its second penalty kick of the season and first in conference play.
- Olivia Lee lined up and fired a shot past the Tulsa goalkeeper to put the Cougars up 2-0 with under 10 minutes to play.
- Houston outshot Tulsa 16 to 10 overall, earning three more corner kicks than the Golden Hurricane.
- Rachel Estopare played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars, picking up five saves and posting her ninth career shutoutÂ
- The Cougars are now 7-7-2 this season, 3-2-1 in the American Athletic Conference and 5-2-0 at the Carl Lewis Complex
- Houston has tied its previous record of three wins in the American Athletic Conference
- Houston now has back-to-back Senior Day wins at the Carl Lewis Complex
- Wild now has one goal this season and three for her career
- Lee now has three goals this season and three for her career.
- The all-time series between Houston and Tulsa is now tied 5-5-3.
