Senior guard Rob Gray, who was one of 30 student-athletes selected nationally as a candidate for the 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award in college basketball on Thursday, led the Cougars with 13 points against the Shockers ... Corey Davis Jr. and Wes VanBeck totaled 12 and 11 points, respectively ... VanBeck and Valentine Sangoyomi tied with six boards apiece ... As the former Hofheinz Pavilion is transformed into the $60-million Fertitta Center, the Cougars will play their 2017-18 home games inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University.

Against Wichita State, Jasmyne Harris led the Cougars with a game-high 26 points ... Dorian Branch added 16 points, while Octavia Barnes contributed 10 while pacing Houston on the glass with seven rebounds ... At Tulane, four Cougars eclipsed double figures ... Harris recored a career-high 34 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her sixth career double-double and fourth of the season ... Harris also finished with a team-high eight assists ... Serithia Hawkins also tallied a double-double, the 14th of her career, setting a career-best with 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds ... Barnes and Branch finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively ... With 14 wins, Houston has recorded its most in Head Coach Ronald Hughey's tenure ... Houston's 14-3 record, marks the best start since the 2004-05 team started with the same record, in a season that saw the Cougars make the NCAA Tournament ... For her efforts, Jasmyne Harris garnered Player of the Week honors from The American as well as ESPNW.

Houston Football announced the addition of Kendal Briles as the program's associate head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and Randy Clements as its run game coordinator and offensive line coach ... Briles spent the 2017 season as assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Florida Atlantic University where the Owls were eighth nationally in scoring offense (40.6 points per game) and ninth nationally in total offense (498.4 yards per game) ... Prior to FAU, Briles spent nine seasons at Baylor including the final two as offensive coordinator ... He also spent three seasons as Baylor's passing game coordinator and seven years coaching the Bears' receivers ... A Houston alum, Briles ranked second on the Houston team in 2005 with 45 receptions for 369 yards and one touchdown ... Clements spent the 2017 season at Southeastern University as offensive line coach after nine seasons at Baylor and five seasons at Houston ... During his time in Waco, Clements tutored 12 future NFL linemen as he served as running game coordinator and co-offensive coordinator ... Five of Clements' linemen at Baylor were named All-Americans at Baylor in Spencer Drango (twice), Cyril Richardson (twice), Jason Smith, J.D. Walton and Danny Watkins ... Prior to Baylor, Clements spent five seasons at Houston where the Cougar offense ranked as one of the nation's most prolific ... In 2007, Houston ranked fourth nationally in total offense (513.2 yards per game), 10th in rushing offense (239.9 yards per game), 17th in scoring offense (36.3 points per game) and 27th in passing offense (273.3 yards per game) ... Houston Men's Golf fans are invited to attend the program's annual fundraiser at the Insperity Dave Williams Cougar Am, set for 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, at Golf Club of Houston ... All proceeds benefit Project 17, the Houston Men's Golf booster club ... Individual and team spots are open, but interested fans are encouraged to make reservations ... Teams can purchase a foursome for $5,000, while individuals can play for $1,250 per person ... That provides participants with opportunities to play with a Champions Tour professional or former Houston Golf star and includes food, drinks and a tee gift ... The Houston Women's Golf annual fundraiser has been pushed back to Sunday, Feb. 11 ... Fans are invited to join the nationally ranked Houston Women's Golf team's annual fundraiser, slated to begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14 ... The fun-filled event will be held at Topgolf Spring (560 Spring Park Center Blvd., Spring, TX 77373) ... All proceeds from the event benefit the Houston Women's Golf program ... Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, Associate Head Coach Lucy Nunn and student-athletes will be on hand to participate with fans ... Tickets are available for $175 per person or $700 per foursome with snacks, dinner, drinks and a gift provided for each player ... Two-time LPGA Player of the Year Stacy Lewis Chadwell will be a special guest at the event ... Participants will also enjoy a silent auction with a variety of prizes. Houston Swimming and Diving team will send a group of swimmers to the first of six meets that make up the TYR Pro Swim Series ... The meet will be held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin from Jan. 11-14 and feature over 300 swimmers from around the world ...The meet will feature swimmers ranked in the top-50 internationally as well as those with one or more qualifying times this season ... Prelims are slated for 9 a.m. each day, with finals beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday and 5:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
