HOUSTON (AP) Houston Football dropped its first game of 2017 in a 27-24 heartbreaker to Texas Tech inside TDECU Stadium. The loss snapped the Cougars' nation-leading home win streak.
Houston managed to make a fourth-quarter comeback that featured senior Kyle Postma at quarterback.
Postma connected on two late scoring drives in the fourth quarter - a nine-yard rushing touchdown on his own and a 4-yard pass to Linell Bonner with 15 seconds left in the game to pull the Cougars within three.
Houston trailed Texas Tech, 13-0, before junior kicker Caden Novikoff connected on a career-long 45-yard field goal to put the Cougars on the board.
With 4:41 left in the first half, starting quarterback Kyle Allen found sophomore D'Eriq King with an 18-yard touchdown pass to make it 13-10 Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders would manage to extend their lead with two scores late in the third and early in the fourth to make it a 27-10 game.
Houston (2-1) owned the nation's longest active home winning streak entering Saturday. The last home loss for Houston was Nov. 8, 2014, against Tulane, 31-24.

Postma replaced Allen midway through the fourth quarter and finished 8-of-13 for 100 yards and a score. Postma also had four carries for 52 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown run.
Defensively, senior Matthew Adams led all defensive players with a career-high 15 tackles. Senior D'Juan Hines also notched a career-high with 13 tackles. Senior Khalil Williams had two sacks for a loss of 11 yards, also a career-best.
