TULSA, Okla. -- The Houston Soccer team dazzled in a 3-1 win over Tulsa to open its 2017 conference slate, Thursday evening.
How It Happened
Houston came out with an unmatched level of intensity, scoring its first of three goals at the front end of the sixth minute. It was all teamwork from the opening kick as Madison Soileau flicked a short pass to Hannah Dauzat who would connect with Selena Peters for her sixth goal of the season.
After the break Houston continued to batter the Tulsa backline, racking up a pair of shots in the opening two minutes of play. Fifteen minutes in, Jazmin Grant would send a ball towards the net from 8-yards out that would ricochet off the head of Kaitlyn Wild for her second goal of the season.
Tulsa would counter the Houston offense with a goal of its own inside the 77th minute to cut the Cougar lead to one.
With eleven minutes left in regulation Soileau would once again lend a helping hand to Peters when she found the senior following a corner kick. Peters would head the ball in and tack on another goal for the Cougars.
