The honor comes after the Australian dropped all three of his punts vs. Rice inside the Owls' 20-yard line, with on inside the 10. Roy's high-hanging punts forced the Owls into two fair catches with no returns on the day.
Roy is the second Houston player to receive a weekly honor from The American in as many weeks after Ed Oliver was named The American's Defensive Player of the Week after Houston's win over Arizona the previous week.
In addition to Roy's honor, UH quarterback Kyle Allen was named to the league's weekly honor roll after setting the Houston single-game completion percentage record with a completion rate of 93.9 percent. The junior completed 31-of-33 passes Saturday en route to throwing for 309 yards and two touchdowns against no interceptions.
